Troubleshooting Guide for Common Fisher & Paykel Microwave Issues

Your Fisher & Paykel microwave is convenient, but because it operates at lethal high voltages, never attempt to open its cabinet or repair it yourself:

• Microwave Runs but Does Not Heat: This is the most common issue, usually caused by a faulty magnetron (the microwave generator), a blown high-voltage diode, or a bad transformer. It requires professional diagnostic and parts replacement.
• Sparks and Arcing Inside the Chamber: This happens due to metal utensils, foil, or a damaged/greasy mica sheet (waveguide cover). The mica sheet must be replaced and the area cleaned.
• Touchpad Buttons Not Responding: This is caused by moisture or steam getting into the control panel, causing electrical shorting. The touchpad membrane or control board needs repair.
• Door Won't Close or Machine Won't Start: Inspect the door hooks and safety microswitches. If they fail, the microwave will lock out operation as a safety measure.
