Your Unionaire microwave is convenient, but because it operates at lethal high voltages, never attempt to open its cabinet or repair it yourself:

Microwave Runs but Does Not Heat: This is the most common issue, usually caused by a faulty magnetron (the microwave generator), a blown high-voltage diode, or a bad transformer. It requires professional diagnostic and parts replacement.
Sparks and Arcing Inside the Chamber: This happens due to metal utensils, foil, or a damaged/greasy mica sheet (waveguide cover). The mica sheet must be replaced and the area cleaned.
Touchpad Buttons Not Responding: This is caused by moisture or steam getting into the control panel, causing electrical shorting. The touchpad membrane or control board needs repair.
Door Won't Close or Machine Won't Start: Inspect the door hooks and safety microswitches. If they fail, the microwave will lock out operation as a safety measure.

Never Run the Microwave Empty: Operating the microwave without food or liquids to absorb energy causes microwave waves to bounce back and burn out the magnetron.
Clean Food Splatters Immediately: Wipe down the interior with a damp cloth and mild soap or lemon water to prevent grease from burning and damaging the mica cover.
Use Microwave-Safe Containers Only: Use glass, ceramic, and microwave-safe plastics. Never use metal, metallic trims, or aluminum foil.
Close the Door Gently: Avoid slamming the door to protect the delicate safety switches and latches from mechanical damage.
